Virtualenv.exe runs then hangs on Windows

so, this was a weird one.

Trying to get up to speed on python dev on windows before the new job starts next week, spent the last four hours trying to create a virtualenv (following the excellent article by tyler butler).

I couldn’t get the powershell command New-VirtualEnvironment to run, it just hung on starting.

Popped a line break into the psm1 file and saw it was actually the call to Virtualenv.exe that was failing.

Cue, much scratching of head.

Recalled a stackoverflow post about AV software. turns out Avast was blocking the exes from running in  C:\Python27\Scripts. Added a quick Exclusion and bosh, all is well. Apart from the four hours lost to this madness.
